A game jam game made for GAMERella2020!

How To Play:

You just started a new job at a bodega in outer space! All your customers are different, and they all speak different languages. Learn to communicate with them to complete their orders by typing the letters you think each symbol corresponds to.

All you need is a mouse and keyboard!

  • The coloured text represents what the customer wants from the store.
  • Click the items to add them to their cart, and then checkout to complete the transaction. Watch for their reaction to see if you got it right!
  • Click the book icon to access your language handbook and click the arrows to find the right language.
  • Using the customer’s reaction, figure out what they were asking for in order to learn your first batch of letters!
  • Type in letters for each symbol and watch as the dialogue boxes convert to English!

Great game! Love the character and language designs! Would be great to have more variety on what each character says.

I was unable to finish as the letters J and Q didn't come up at all, in either the products or the dialogue. Such a shame, I was so close!

Thanks for the comment! :D Yes, we definitely realized belatedly (re: after the jam lol) that some letters weren't used in the dialogue. Sorry about that!

(1 edit)

I like it!  One language was obvious (and I noticed another later), and it helped me to figure out what was going on.  It took me a moment to realize that I could fill in to find out.  Very helpful.

I will say that I would like more variety of phrases.  Each customer repeats common phrases and I think it would be more fun if they talked differently, maybe upscale, or British, or something to indicate a different language.

I liked it.  Great game!

Thanks for the comment :D I like your idea of dialects. Maybe we will add more variety of phrases by developing it post-game jam! We had to cut a lot of our dialogue ideas due to time constraints.
